A residential design project in which the goal was to create a row house for an elderly couple to spend the rest of their lives in.Karen and Joe Smith, being both in their 60’s, are not as concerned with handicapped disabilities however, they are very mindful of what would come in the future regarding their health. Karen who suffers from arthritis and who has endeared many shoulder surgeries in the past is specifically concerned with creating an environment that would not only make life easier on her growing condition but physically safe as well. Joe’s major health concern is his diabetes and how it will only grow to affect him more and more as the years go on. Together they both are looking for a home that is aesthetically pleasing to the eye but functional for incoming health problems in the future. To accommodate their requests, the house is set to age properly with the couple in terms of accessibility. All the important needs are located on the first floor with an optional elevator access to the remainder of the house. All fixtures are accessible to someone suffering from arthritis such as no upper cabinets in the kitchen
